What is the PRPG resource pack?
The Performance Review, Professional Growth (PRPG) INSET resource:

  • Explores the new Performance Management Regulations and provides guidance on their application; 
  • Provides practical models ready for implementation with examples;
  • Provides guidance for all parties involved in the process;
  • Provides INSET activities for staff development to create an effective process;
  • Models the process on DVD for staff training.

What can schools achieve with this resource?
The framework is a practical resource that can be used for reference, support and training. It enables schools to:

  • Ensure that all teachers have appropriate expectations of themselves, linked to the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document and the Professional Standards for Teachers;
  • Reflect these expectations in job descriptions;
  • Reflect these expectations in differentiated performance management objectives;
  • Conduct an objective setting and review process that creates high quality professional dialogue and improvement in teaching and learning;
  • Ensure that performance management helps achieve school improvement, and generates evidence for school self-evaluation;
  • Train and support reviewers and reviewees with comprehensive materials, models to implement and pro formas to use.

What are the benefits of PRPG?

  • It enables schools to integrate performance management with school improvement and self-evaluation.
  • It enables schools to ensure that they implement appropriate levels of expectation for main scale teachers, upper pay spine teachers and those with leadership posts, reflecting this in their performance management.
  • It provides an approach that places the ownership of the process with the reviewee, driving personal growth and school improvement effectively.

How can PRPG be accessed?
Resource pack for independent use in school. This includes;

  • Model job descriptions for all main scale teachers, TLR and leadership posts;
  • Pro formas (electronic and paper) for all parts of the performance management process;
  • Guidance documents for all parties (teachers, reviewers, headteachers, appointed governors, governors).

Delegate course: The Managing Performance Management one day course trains a senior managers to use the resource effectively in their own school.  Delegates will return to their schools with the materials and with a full understanding of how to lead staff training for maximum impact on teaching and learning.

In school Consultancy: An expert Cambridge Education trainer can visit your school and lead a high-impact training day with all your staff and/or colleagues from your cluster group. Training is flexible and can be with different groups in different sessions, e.g. teachers, reviewers and governors.

All options will support the school with training that they can continue and extend across a longer period of time by themselves.

What is the PRPG course content?
Delegates will be taken through the INSET activities supplied with the resource so that they are fully confident to deliver them with their colleagues in school. 
These include:

  • Recognising the potential and challenges of performance management – creating a school agenda;
  • Key changes in the Performance Management Regulations;
  • Addressing key policy questions;
  • Clarifying appropriate expectations with teachers in job descriptions;
  • Introducing annual job plans;
  • Using the new Professional Standards for Teachers;
  • Differentiating performance management objectives;
  • Writing performance management objectives;
  • Improving practice through classroom observation – creating professional dialogue instead of ‘feedback’;
  • The annual review process;
  • Defining the school performance management cycle;
  • Performance review and pay recommendations from September 2008.

Who are the PRPG tutors?
Cambridge Education trainers typically have experience as headteachers, advisers, Ofsted inspectors and trainers.

How many packs do I need per school?
You will only need one pack per school, unless you wish to have more.
If two people from one school attend the course will we need to purchase two packs?
You will only need to purchase one pack. The other delegate can attend the course for £225 ex VAT.

Can I buy a resource pack and then choose to go onto a course?
You can go onto the course after you have purchased the resource pack. However you will need to bring your resource pack with you. The cost of attending the course when you have a resource pack is £165 ex VAT

Cancellation of course places?
Course bookings can be cancelled 6 weeks prior to the course date

Prior to the course can I receive my pack?
You can ask for your pack to be delivered to your school prior to the course date. However, you will need to bring the pack with you to the course

Can I return my pack?
Due to copyright reasons the resource pack can not be returned unless it is faulty.
